Captain could feature for the club's Under-21s next week

Crewe Alexandra are hopeful that club captain Matt Tootle will be able to play some minutes for the Under-21s next week. Tootle has successfully returned to training and although today’s fixture against Nottingham Forest came around too quickly, it is hoped that the defender will be back in contention for a fixture next week against either Huddersfield or Leeds.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Matt is not too far off from having a game. The game today has come around too soon for him but we have two games next week at Under-21 level so we are looking to involve him in that. “

Meanwhile, young midfielder Liam Nolan has successfully returned to training after overcoming an ankle injury.
