Steve Davis explains why club moved on from Greg Leigh approach
Steve Davis has revealed to the club’s official that Greg Leigh’s ‘personal demands’ made a permanent deal impossible.
The Crewe Alexandra boss has admitted that the former Manchester City full-back was his first choice but he states that he has one or two other options to fill the left-back void.
The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “Any deal for Greg (Leigh) is dead. I would have liked him to stay and he was my first choice for the left-back position but his demands were well above what we had offered and we have to move on. I haven't been access to speak to Greg and I've not spoken to his agent for over a week, so it has all fizzled out.
“We made Greg and his representative an offer a while ago now and we couldn’t get close on the personal terms to make it happen. We have a few in mind who could be available to us and a left-back and two midfield players remain our priority at the moment.”
