Boss says forward players have to fill Chuks Void

Steve Davis says that in the absence of the suspended Chuks Aneke for our trip to Shrewsbury on Good Friday, now it is the time for others to step up to the plate.

Aneke, on loan from Arsenal, will miss three of our remaining four games after being shown a red card against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the verge of the half-time interval for an alleged elbow on Richard Stearman.

May. rdIt has left Crewe without their leading goalscorer and top assist maker for the crucial run-in. Aneke will only be permitted to play against Preston North End on 3

Steve told crewealex.net: “It is a blow to lose Chuks at this stage of the season because he was the one who has been scoring and creating goals for us. He has been in great form for us and the one who has been the most dangerous.

“With Chuks missing it gives someone else a chance to stake their claim for the final games of this season. We have a number of forward players vying to be there in our four.

“We have Max back, AJ, Vadaine should be fine after his sore groin. Pogs, Brad, Byron, Billy and Uche, so there are plenty of options and plenty to work with.

The boss added: “It is time for someone else to step up to the plate and produce.”
