Tate missed Orient after suffering slight re-occurence of groin strain
On-loan defender Alan Tate missed last weekend’s 4-1 defeat at Leyton Orient after suffering a slight re-occurrence of his groin strain. The experienced Swansea centre-half left Thursday’s session after feeling pain in the same muscle and as a result he didn’t travel to London. Instead George Ray returned to the starting line-up for Crewe with Jon Guthrie on the substitutes' bench as defensive cover.
Steve Davis explained to Crewealex.net: “Alan has had a problem with his groin and he felt it again on the Thursday. We took him out as a precaution and that is why we didn’t take him to London.
“We are hoping that it is not too serious but it is the same groin as before.
“Al has been great since he came here. He has added great experience because he has been there and done it. He has been a success and has had an opportunity to play at higher levels. Not many of our players have been able to do that because they are just starting out on their careers.
