Still Time For Brad To Come Good

Steve Davis says no-one here giving up on Inman

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is hoping that Bradden Inman can rediscover the form that made him such a hit with the supporters during his initial loan spell during the 2013 season. Inman originally arrived on loan from Newcastle United and quickly caught the eye with his match winning ability. The 23-year-old scored 8 goals in 26 appearances and also picked up a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy winners medal with a famous 2-0 win over Southend at Wembley.

Although Newcastle were keen to extend his stay at St. James’ Park, Inman elected to join Crewe in search of more regular football and although the deal took some time to be resolved, the likeable Aussie signed permanently for us in August 2013. The two clubs avoided a tribunal but Crewe still paid a competitive transfer fee to secure his services.

In his first full season with Crewe, Inman hit four goals in 40 games and it has been a similar story this time around with him struggling to hold down a regular place in Steve Davis’ starting XI.

Steve has admitted that Inman was available for loan heading into the final deadline but nothing materialised enough for him to go out.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Brad has lost his way a bit. We changed the system to stop us shipping goals and he has struggled to get into the team. We went on to do that and got some terrific results, so he lost a bit of heart.

“He wasn’t playing well enough to stay in the team and we made him available for loan but nothing came about from that and that should provide an alarm call for him. Since the deadline and nothing happening, he is working hard and must be realising that he has to work harder to get into the team and stay there.

“He has a year left on his contract and we are hopeful that he can produce the form that he showed when he was here on loan. He has only been able to replicate that on occasions since.

He added: “No-one is giving up on Brad that is for sure. He is a talented player and we want him to show that enthusiasm and desire he did. There is still time for to do that.”
