Steve pleased with the combination play of his forwards last week at the Sixfields

Steve Davis is hoping that his new striking partnership of Tom Hitchcock and Chuks Aneke can fire Crewe away from the relegation zone over the festive period.

Both of them helped themselves to goals against Coventry City last weekend as they combined together at the Sixfields Stadium.

Steve Davis does have a dilemma in his selection this week with Vadaine Oliver returning from suspension following his unfair dismissal against Crawley for two bookable offences.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It is a little too early to judge Tom and Chuks as a partnership but there were promising signs. It was one game but they combined well and both made assists for each others goals.

“They know they are in the team to create and score goals and if they can do that on a regular basis then that would be a real bonus. If they do that then they will be great assets to us and stay in the team. “
