Steve Davis pleased with performance despite 1-0 defeat to Glovers
Steve Davis was pleased with his side's overall performance against Yeovil Town this afternoon and told the club's official web-site that the only thing that was missing was a goal or two against Gary Johnson's play-off side. After the 1-0 defeat at Huish Park, Steve told crewealex.net: "I thought we were excellent today, every one of them and although I would swap the performance for the result, I cannot be disappointed with the way we have played against a side that could go up to the Championship through the play-offs.
"It was real controlled performance from us and the only thing we lacked from the performance was a goal or two, but that is not to say we didn't create chances because we did. We faced a goalkeeper on top form and he has made three or four top saves to preserve their lead. You can have days like that and I thought we didn't get what we deserved from the way we played.
"Other than the opening goal in the first minute, I thought we defended well as well. The only time we have lost concentration they have scored and that has been the difference on the day.
"We opened them up and caused them problems in both halves. I thought we attacked and went for it. We attacked with five players and defended with five and I thought when we were working with it in the week that it was an exciting way for us to play. We had Abdul back and that gave Brad and Byron more licence to bomb on and attack.
"We haven't being playing as well as we ca in recent weeks and I have been disappointed with that but today we looked more like us. We looked like we did midway through the season and I was pleased with that. That is the positive to take into the last two games and into next season."
