Alex boss gives us his reaction followinga 2-0 defeat at Upton Park
Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis gives his reaction to the club's official web-site following our 2-0 defeat at Upton Park in the Capital One Cup 2nd round. After the 90 minutes at the home of the Hammers, Davis said: “I am a much happier manager tonight than I was on Saturday. I had a pop at them on Saturday and told them that this was the perfect stage to put it right. I was obviously disappointed with the result and the fact that we have gone out at the competition.
“The players worked hard, had their moments and gave it a real good go. We had some opportunities. The goalkeeper made a good save from AJ when he was played in and I thought we had a claim for a penalty when Harry Bunn went down. I would like to see that again.
“The first goal was really important and it was a typical finish from Nicky. Our heads did go down a bit when they scored the second goal but they kept themselves going, worked hard and I was a proud manager tonight.
“I think we showed what we are capable of, showed some ability and got Saturday’s result out of the system a bit.
He added: “Now we have to look forward. I will make sure the players get a bit of rest because some of them were tired and jaded after a tough run and now we can look forward to Saturday’s game against Coventry.”
