Steve: "We Worked Hard For That"

Davis delight with second half rearguard action after Moore's super brace

After a 2-1 win, Davis told the club's official web-site: "I knew Swindon would have a spell in the game and I didn’t think we would be able to keep up our performance in the first-half for the whole game, but I just didn’t expect their spell to be all of the second half!

Steve Davis was a delighted manager as his Crewe Alexandra side held on to gain three great points against Swindon Town this evening. Crewe had to come back from a goal behind to go in front at the break thanks to a brace from Byron Moore. The second half was real backs-to-the-wall stuff but Crewe held on to gain a second successive home win.

"But we coped with that, and coped with the crosses that they put in to the box. Alan Martin has made two fantastic saves and got man of the match, but in truth any of the back five could have been named man-of-the-match. I thought they were excellent.

"In the first-half we caused them some real problems and could have been further ahead had it not been for two great saves by their keeper. I was really pleased for Byron, because I keep getting on at him to get in at the back post, and that is exactly what he did for his first goal, his second was an excellent finish.

"It was a great night for us. You have to work hard for points in this division and that is exactly what we have done tonight. The lads put their bodies on the line and kept going."
