Steve To Make Decision on Trialist GK

Boss to let goalkeeper know after Altrincham friendly

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is set to make a decision on the young goalkeeping trialist currently training at the Club on Friday after the friendly in Altrincham.

The stopper has already featured in the victories over Newcastle Town, Blackburn Rovers and Kidsgrove Athletic and it now appears that the boss will make up his mind on the youngster with just two weeks to go until the start of the new season.

The boss told crewealex.net “Those three positions, left-back, centre-back, goalkeeper, are still our key areas we want to improve. The keeper we have in did ok at Kidsgrove and we’ll have another look on Friday at Altrincham and then give him a decision then.

“It’s very difficult for a goalkeeper because he’s dependent on how good or bad we defend. But we look at all aspects of it, distribution, communication, positioning. He’s big enough, strong enough, he’s good around the place but the be all and end all of it is that he’s got to stop the ball going in the net and that’s the bottom line.

“We can see things in training to see things more clearly to test the goalkeeper and all of the other players that come in on trial.”
