Steve: "The Lads Were Terrific"

Steve Davis hails his players after superb away win at Doncaster

Steve Davis hailed all of his players as they recorded a second win on the road and deservedly kept a clean-sheet at an in-form Doncaster Rovers this evening. Goals from new loan signing Lauri Dalla Valle and Mathias Pogba sealed three deserved points and a first ever win at the relatively new Keepmoat Stadium.

After a great result and performance, Steve told the club's official web-site: "Every one of them was terrific tonight and we have come here and shown what we can do. I think we have a talented group of players and I told them before the game that they have to come to places like this and show it. It is about having that belief and showing that consistency.

"We were immense defensively when we needed to be and I was pleased with them and for them that we managed to get a clean-sheet as well. That was pleasing.

"The early goal made a difference to us because we have struggled to score that first goal in a game. It was a great pass from Chuks and a great finish from Lauri. He can make those intelligent little runs in behind and he occupies the centre-backs with his movement. He didn't give them a minute's peace and he took his goal really well. He was composed and clam ad slotted it in at the near post.

"That is what we saw in him and why we decided to bring him in and play him. We watched him play that role for Fulham, with one off and it suited us wit Chuks.

"The second goal was a set play and it is nice to see the work we do on that pay off. We have worked hard on getting Pogs getting that position and he is a a big lad who can do that. It was also a great corner from Michael West, who came on at half time because Byron Moore had trouble with his foot.

"I thought we controlled much of the game and stood up to them physically as well. They put some hefty tackles in but we kept our composure and disciplined and the amount of free kicks helped us because it allowed us to control the tempo better."
