Alex boss on Hitchcock and Mesca

Steve Davis says his two new loan players’, Tom Hitchcock and Mesca Bangna did well in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Crawley considering that they had only participated in Fridays’ final session. The Crewe Alexandra boss was pleased with his new players’ work ethic, especially after we had Vadaine Oliver sent off for two bookable offences.

January and the Alex boss says there is more to come from his new captures. thBoth players have signed on loan until 7

Following the 1-0 win over Crawley, Davis told crewealex.net: “I thought the loan players did fine. They have only joined in on Friday, so to come into a game like this I thought they worked hard for the cause.

“It was difficult for Tom, especially when he had to act as a lone striker when Vadaine was sent off. He put some real effort in and chased defenders.

“He had one chance and should have taken it first time. That is what he said to me afterwards.

“Mesca was good. He worked hard and carried the ball up the pitch for us. He did his defensive work and can improve on that but I am sure there is more to come from both of them.

He added: “This week will be really beneficial to them. They will get used to their new team-mates and our style of play.”
