Steve Hoping To Finalise Moves Before Deadine

26 November 2014

Boss working behind the scenes to try and add one or two on emergency loan

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he has been virtually constantly on his mobile phone as he tries to improve his attacking options before tomorrow’s 5pm deadline when applying to Emergency loans. The Alex boss is looking to reinforce his strike force after Crewe’s recent run of one goal in the last four matches.

Following the weekend defeat at Leyton Orient, in his post-match interview, Steve told crewealex.net that ‘he was desperate to bring in a forward’ before Thursday.

As the deadline approaches, the Alex boss told us: “We have been trying for a long time to find a forward. We are crying out for a double-figure striker. If we had someone who can take chances then it was ease the pressure on our defence.

“I am sure if we could one or two in then it would give everyone a lift. The deadline for emergency loans is Thursday and I’ve made numerous phone calls to managers and agents to see if we can do something.

“I will continue to do that over the next couple of days and try and conclude what we have been working on for some time.

“We have had a decent record in the past when it comes to loan deals but it is always a risk. You have to try and bring the right characters in for the right reasons and some come highly recommended by their agents or their manager.

He added:  “Some don’t always come off. They don’t adapt or tick for whatever reason but I think we have got more right than wrong over the last few years and that is what we will try and do again.”
