Steve Hints At Changes

Boss to give one or two a chance to stake their claim

Steve Davis has hinted that he may make one or two changes for the visit of Bradford City in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tomorrow night. The Alex boss says he will make give some of his players a chance to stake their claim for a place following a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient at the weekend.

Crewe were certainly slow out of the blocks in London, but recovered well to enjoy the better of the possession in the second period. Crewe remained in the game to claim a valuable point.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Everyone came through unscathed from Saturday but Max (Clayton) did get stamped on his toe. He has only recently had some blood drained from under his nail, so for him to get it stamped on again ten minutes into the game meant he has hobbling around a bit in the second half. It is still a bit sore but he should be okay.

“I may look to make one or two changes for the Bradford game tomorrow night. I won’t be making a lot and won’t be making changes for changes sake.

“We didn’t do so well in the first half at Leyton Orient, so we could look at some others and give them the opportunity.

He added: “We have always taken the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy seriously and have named strong teams because it is a competition we want to do well in. We have never got to Wembley in the competition and it is something we want to do.”
