Steve: "Great For League If Walsall Can Stay There"

12 February 2016

Steve Davis is looking forward to Walsall encounter

Steve Davis feels it would be a tremendous achievement for League One football if the current top two Burton Albion and our visitors to the Alexandra Stadium tomorrow Walsall, can go the whole distance and win promotion to the Championship.

Walsall may have lost their previous manager Dean Smith to Brentford but the appointment of the vastly experienced Sean O’Driscoll has made the transition seem almost flawless.

Walsall arrived in South Cheshire trailing the Brewers by four points and needed the win to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Walsall have continued to do what they are very good at under Sean. He hasn’t changed too much and they have a very settled group.

“It is a close knit squad of players and they have not had to cope with too many injuries to key players. They have done very well this season.

“It would be remarkable if they and Burton can remain there because of the resources they have to other clubs at this level.

“They will be will looking to stay there and avoid the play-offs. There are plenty of games still to play and if they can achieve it then it would be great for the league.

He added: “They play an attractive way and are entertaining to watch, so it should be a good game. “
