Steve Delighted With Lowe Capture

Boss on his new talisman

Crewe Alexandra Manager Steve Davis believes his capture of Ryan Lowe could be key for the upcoming campaign after the 37-year-old penned a deal last week.

Davis has been keen to add experience and know-how to his young squad in order to help them get battle-hardened for League Two and he believes Lowe to be a big step towards that after convincing the 200-career-goal striker to join the Club.

Steve told crewealex.net: “When he came on loan I spoke to him about his long term future and what he was going to do.

“We wanted to keep him beyond a month but we couldn’t because Bury wanted to take him back, but we’d already had that discussion around what he was going to do after the end of the season.

“Off the back of that we talked about what we could offer him here and whether he’d be interested and then left that with him. He showed interest and it went from there really.

“He enjoyed his loan spell and he knows what he’s coming into because of his previous associations with the Club. He enjoyed working with us and I enjoyed working with him, so it was straightforward in the end.

“I know he had other Clubs interested and Bury were keen on keeping him for another year, but he wanted to play week in week out. He’s still really fit, in good condition and looks after himself as best as anyone I’ve seen – he’s still got a lot to give.”
