Steve: "Nowhere Near The Standard From Us"

20 September 2014

Alex boss gives us his post match reaction from Stadium:mk following a tough afternoon

The boss added: "The players know we have to have to be much, much better than that or it is going to be a long season. I am a passionate man and I don't want to be associated with performances like that."

"We were trying to stay in the game at 2-1 and managed to get to half time but then they scored two minutes into the second half and it was downhill from there. They could have scored more, it could have been eight or nine and they were unforgiving with their ability, but we were nowhere near. We have been battered and lacked the energy to do anything about it.

"We spent most of the game fire fighting. When we were putting out one problem another one arose.

"We were so second best at times it was frightening and it showed that some of our players are struggling with this league. We didn't show any ability on the ball or without the ball. Nobody was near the standard required and when we have that at any place in this league then you are going to have big problems.

From stadium:mk, Steve Davis told the club's official web-site: "There are no excuses for that performance today because we have been battered. They are a very good side and were unforgiving in their attacking but that was no where near good enough from us. When we have a performance like that I hurt just like a supporter. It was shameful at times and none of them have come out of the game with any credit.

Alex boss Steve Davis was extremely disappointed by his side's showing at MK Dons, but was equally impressed with Karl Robinson's side, especially in an attacking sense. The MK Dons bounced back from a disappointing defeat to Bradford in mid-week to hit six past Crewe Alexandra, who had come into the game with restored confidence following four points from a possible six thanks to a victory over Port Vale and Yeovil. Crewe never got those levels here though.
