Steve: "A Good Result"

14 December 2013

Boss gives us his reaction from the Sixfields Stadium

"Saying that I thought his reaction after conceding the penalty was good. He showed some real character and he came for some tricky balls in a strong wind. The conditions today made it hard for both sets of players and I was pleased to pick up another point."

"We lost Abdul with a head injury for the corner and we didn't quite re-organise well enough. That is when you need the leaders to look at it and re-organise and we didn't quite get that right being a man down. Ben has rushed from his line to concede the penalty. He doesn't need to do that and he has to learn from that. It is perhaps something young goalkeepers do. He fumbled a shot against Wycombe and went chasing it and conceded a spot kick there and it is a harsh world football and he has to cope with things like that.

"We didn't manage to hold onto the lead given to us by Tom but the players once again showed some real spirit and determination to get something from it. They have shown some real fight in the last two games and you can see some of the confidence coming back. They are still making a few mistakes and there is still room for improvement, but everyone can see that the spirit is improving and they are putting their bodies on the line. I was pleased with them.

After a thrilling 2-2 draw, Steve told the club's official web-site: "I thought it was a good result for us and we deserved it. We took the lead and I was pleased for Tom. He took it really well. He was really calm with his finish and he also created the goal for Chuks, so that was a good days work for him and Chuks. Both of them are in the team to score and create goals and they have done that. It is a new partnership and they haven't had a lot of time to work on things together, but they tried to combine and it was promising.

Steve Davis was pleased with the fight and spirit shown by his players as they came back from 2-1 down to pick up a deserved point against a fine Coventry side. Crewe had taken the lead through new loanee Tom Hitchcock but lost the lead only for Chuks Aneke to slot home our first equaliser of the season.
