Steve Davis gives us his post-match reaction after decision changed game again

"It was a good performance from our players and I am just gutted that they didn't get anything to show for it and the defeat has come in similar circumstances to what happened to us down their last month. They know they have worked hard and we did enough to get a least a draw, if not more."

"I don't want to talk about the decisions, because it was a really good game of football between two footballing teams. It was a great advert for our league and I'm not surprised we have had a lot of scouts here. I would have fancied this one if I had seen it was on tonight.

"The second one came after we switched off. Kelvin (Mellor) has played well this evening but just switched off and Pitman has finished it well. They had that clinical finish and perhaps we didn't quite have that because we created the better chances I thought. I didn't think we have had much luck, we have hit the woodwork twice and I thought their goalkeeper was the man-of-the-match, he made some great saves.

"I told them to get their heads up because we have played one of the best teams in our league and deserved to get something from it. They felt robbed in the dressing room because a couple of decisions have cost us. It changed the game and I couldn't see what the penalty was given for. It looked harsh and I don't want to say too much about the referee's performance because I got in trouble last time. I think everyone saw that it was a soft penalty and their players didn't appeal for it.

Speaking after the 2-1 defeat to the new league leaders, Davis told crewealex.net: "I cannot fault the players for the amount of effort they have put in this evening and the way they applied themselves against a very good Bournemouth side. Again, like it was at their place last month I didn't think there was too much between the two sides and I thought we more than matched them. I am just disappointed that they haven't got anything for their efforts, because we have played well tonight.

Steve Davis felt the penalty award for Mathias Pogba's challenge on Matt Ritchie just before the hour mark changed the course of tonight's game. The Alex boss was again bemoaning a penalty award against his Crewe side, but says he couldn't fault the effort or performance of his players despite a 2-1 home defeat to Eddie Howe's Bournemouth.
