Steve: "It Was Much Better From Us"

4 October 2014

Steve Davis gives us his post match reaction from Valley Parade following 2-0 defeat

"We were set up defensively in the first half and were not creating too much up the other end. We needed to create more and be better on the ball and we were. We got up the pitch a lot better and had some good moments. Chris Atkinson forced their goalkeeper into a save and George Cooper also had a shot saved on a counter attack just before they scored. We had some other long range efforts as well.

Steve told the club's official web-site: "I thought it was much better today and I thought we were doing fine until the 70th minute. We were playing well defensively, especially in the first half, but I thought to give us a chance in the second half we would make that change tactically and switch back to the four across the back.

Alex boss Steve Davis gave his post-match reaction to the club's official web-site following the 2-0 defeat to Phil Parkinson's Bantams. The Alex had contained the home side until the 72nd minute but two goals in three minutes from Aaron McLean and Gary Liddle settled the result. Crewe's game plan nearly paid off though with both Chris Atkinson and full debutant George Cooper having shots saved before the opening the goal.

"It was better from us though and the fans were terrific for us today. The players kept going and there were signs there that we will take as a positive."

"We will have a look at the goals again and obviously we were all disappointed with that five minute period when they scored those two goals but this is not a time for blame because I thought they all worked hard for the cause and gave their all. They were disappointed that they conceded virtually from the kick off and that is something we have to eliminate because it has happened in the last three games.
