Boss says Ajose has done nothing different in his approach in the last two games
Steve Davis has backed his on-loan striker Nicky Ajose to return into the scoring groove sooner rather than later. Ajose had hit nine goals during his successful loan spell with us but has failed to score in the club’s last two matches against Doncaster and Barnsley.
Davis says that the stats show that the on-loan Leeds man is doing nothing different in his approach in matches.
Steve told crewealex.net: “Nicky has been making the same amount of runs in the games. He is still getting behind and getting into dangerous positions. We have analysed his last two performances and the stats have shown that he is still making the same number of runs.
“He hasn’t received the same level of service or creativity and it just hasn’t fallen to him inside the box.
“Nicky has been excellent for us since coming here on loan and because he has done so, it is looked upon as a barren spell for him because he hasn’t scored in the last two games.
“He cannot do it all on his own and he needs help from midfield and those who are playing around him. I’m sure if the service improves then he will be back causing defences a problem.
Steve added: “I’m sure that facing his former club (Swindon) will only inspire him as well, so he will be looking forward to it.”
