Room For Improvement

Alex boss pleased with mini-revival but is after more threat

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has been relatively pleased with a recent run of just one league defeat in our last seven matches but he knows there is room for improvement, especially in the final third. The Alex have scored just five goals during our mini-revival and have now not scored in our last three outings.

Ahead of our trip south to face Leyton Orient this weekend, the Alex boss said: “We are in good form compared to the start we made. We have lost just once in the last seven league games and have become a lot harder to beat.

“We were conceding too many goals before and it was important we tightened up. We have managed to do that but we are not scoring enough goals. That is not just the forwards either because we have other players who could chip in with a goal or two as well.

“What we can do is make sure we improve with each performance. If we can do that then the results will follow. We can still improve as a team and the players are working hard to do that.

“Everyone is determined to get out of the bottom four and if we can beat a team that is down there with us then that would be a double bonus. We have built some momentum built we know we have to be more threatening in the final third.

He added:“We are getting there and are not a million miles away.”
