Steve Davis praise for AJ Leitch-Smith

Steve Davis says there is no need to panic over discussing a new contract with AJ Leitch-Smith as the 22-year-old as the club have another year option. Davis has praised the recent form of the Crewe-born forward, stating that he is beginning to reproduce the form he showed at the end of last season.

Leitch-Smith has scored two goals in his last three outings and won the penalty at Notts. County at the weekend after being tripped by Gavin Mahon.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We have an option on AJ, so we can execute that in the summer. There is no panic over AJ.

“He has only just come back into the team but he is showing  the type of form that he ended last season with. He has scored two in three games and won the penalty at the weekend. AJ has done well for us recently and that is why Max (Clayton) has found himself out of the side recently.

“Pogs will come into consideration again. He is our top scorer and you would want him on the pitch than not. Brad Inman and Luke Murphy are chipping in with goals and Chuks is providing those passes that have caused teams problems. “
