Ikpeazu could make Vale clash

Crewe Alexandra remain hopeful that the club’s on-loan striker Uche Ikpeazu will be deemed fit enough to be in contention for this weekend’s derby fixture against Port Vale this weekend.  Ikpeazu missed the club’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford at the weekend due to a slight ankle injury, but the Watford youngster is working hard with head physio Rob Sharp to give him the best chance of making the clash at Vale Park.

Ikpeazu made an instant impression with two goals on his full debut at Bradford.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Uche is still a doubt with his ankle but he has a better chance this week. He rolled his ankle at Bradford and in hindsight we were right to take him off because he could have been out for a few weeks.

“He will work with Rob until Thursday and then hopefully we will be back training with us. We hope he makes it because he will make a big difference to us because we saw at Bradford what he is capable of.

“We are encouraged that he could be fit and available for selection.”
