Pogba Contract Extended

6 December 2013

Mathias extended until summer of 2015

Crewe Alexandra is pleased to announce that we have exercised our right to extend Mathias Pogba’s contract with the club. The Guinean International has extended his contract until the summer of 2015 and as a double celebration the club’s leading goalscorer last season recently joined in with some 6v6 sessions yesterday.

Pogba has not featured this season after suffering a serious knee injury against Manchester United in pre-season. The striker scored 16 goals last season but missed the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final in April due a thigh injury.

Manager Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “The club have exercised the option on Mathias’ contract and we are delighted because we want him here as long as possible. We want him here to learn and improve even further. We think there is more to come from him and we will continue to get the best out of him.

“Now we have to get him back playing, playing well and scoring goals. He has joined in with some 6v6 this week and was bombing about. We have to be careful with him because it is still early with his fitness.

He added: “Having him back will be a big boost for us. It will be like having a new signing. It will feel like it.”
