Striker could training return next week

Mathias Pogba could return to training next week if he comes through this week with no reaction. Pogba, who has already scored four goals this season, has missed the club’s last four matches with a knee injury and has been working hard to bulk up the muscle around the injury.

The former Wrexham man will step up his rehabilitation this week and could possibly be kicking balls again, in the hope of training again ahead of our trip to MK Dons.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Pogs has been working hard in the gym and is really pushing on. He has been loading up around the knee and been fine. It is just a question of how he does with his running, movement and striking the ball again.

“If it goes well this week then we could have him using the ball and see how the knee reacts. It has been fine up to know and hopefully if he can come through that then we will look to him rejoining training in the next week or so.

The manager added:“It has been a blow to lose him because he gives us something different up there and he was in good goalscoring form before he suffered the injury.”
