Assistant manager pleased after Brad grew in stature

Neil Baker has told the club’s official web-site that he was pleased with the debut of loan signing Brad Inman after the Newcastle United youngster grew in confidence as our Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie with Doncaster Rovers progressed. As Crewe stepped up a gear towards the end of the first-half, Brad Inman forced Gary Woods into two smart saves, but the chances raised the atmosphere and the pressure finally told when Mathias Pogba converted Max Clayton’s cross.

Neil told the club’s official web-site: “I am pleased with how it went for Brad because it wasn’t easy. He came into a different side and probably had not played at that tempo before, as his own experience has come from playing for Newcastle’s reserves and the Under-21s.

“It was difficult for the first half-an-hour and I don’t think he was used to playing in a 4-3-3 but we got ourselves going and he got himself going. He got into his role and grew into the game.

“I think there were a few supporters who were disappointed when we brought him off. He was tiring and tiring quickly and he had put a shift in. We were pleased with Brad as it was his first game for us.”
