Phillips Won't Need Op

Goalkeeper to avoid surgery.

Steve Phillips doesn’t need shoulder surgery after been given the all-clear by a consultant. The experienced goalkeeper has more muscular problem than join damage and it is positive news that he will avoid an operation.

An operation at this stage could have ruled him out for much of the season and manager Steve Davis says it will be a bonus to have the 35-year-old available again this season.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Steve doesn’t need to have surgery on his shoulder and that is good news for him and good news for us.

“If you can ever avoid an operation then you should and that means he will be available for us again this season. If he would have had an operation then he could have been out for months with the rehab needed.

“He has played a lot of games and been diving on those shoulders over many years so it is the wear and tear of that. “
