Paul Will Turn It Around

28 November 2014

Steve Davis says Paul Dickov is more than capable of leading Doncaster back into the top six.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis fully expects Paul Dickov to turn Doncaster Rovers into real promotion challengers in the second half of the season. Doncaster were only relegated from the Championship on the final day of last season but found it hard to adjust to life in the league below.

Their home form has been their Achilles heel this season, winning just one game at their Keepmoat Stadium but on their travels the Yorkshire outfit are a completely different proposition. They have won five away games already and enjoyed a superb 3-1 win at Rochdale last weekend.

Ahead of our clash at the Alexandra Stadium, Steve told crewealex.net: “Doncaster a good side. They were a Championship team last season and a lot of their players have experience of playing at that level.

“They have struggled a bit to adjust this season but there is still time for them to turn that around. I’m sure Paul (Dickov) will change it around. It is probably just a confidence thing with them and once they manage to string some results together then that will return and they will move up the table.

“They have enough quality players to make a difference in tight games and Paul has a good group of players to work with.

He added: “We know they are a good side, especially on the road this season, so we will have to play well to get a result. We are at home, in front of our own crowd and that is what we will aim to do.”
