Oliver And Stewart Not Offered New Deals

15 May 2015

Vadaine Oliver and Anthony Stewart not to be retained by the club

Crewe Alexandra Football Club will not be offering new contracts to forward Vadaine Oliver and defender Anthony Stewart when their current contracts expire.

Oliver, 23, scored three league goals in 16 league starts for the Railwaymen after signing from Lincoln City in the summer of 2013. His most notable goal saw him net the winner against neighbours Port Vale in September. He also scored the club’s Goal of the Season against Swindon Town in September 2014 just minutes after Mathias Pogba as a substitute.

The former Sheffield Wednesday trainee spent the majority of the season on loan at Mansfield Town last season, scoring 7 league goals in his 23 starts to help the Stags remain in the Football League.

Centre half Stewart joined Crewe on a six month contract in late November from Wycombe Wanderers. The 22-year-old centre-half made 10 appearances for Crewe, including two starts against Preston and Rochdale.

Everyone at Crewe Alexandra would like to wish Vadaine and Anthony every success for the future and we thank them for their service.
