O'Driscoll Sides Always Play Right Way

10 February 2016

Steve Davis previews the visit of Sean O'Driscoll's Walsall side

Steve Davis believes that Walsall’s new boss Sean O’Driscoll shares the same footballing philosophy as the man he replaced back in December. Dean Smith did a fantastic job for the Saddlers and left them in a healthy position when he accepted the Brentford job.

O’Driscoll who briefly assisted Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool before he was dismissed back in October brings a wealth of experience to the Midlands club after previously managing the likes of Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers.

O’Driscoll brings his Walsall side to Gresty Road this weekend with the club in one of the automatic promotion places.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I’m sure Sean will carry on where Dean left off. He is a very experienced manager and he likes his teams to play the right way. He will share the same football principles as Dean and I’m sure they will get the ball down and try and play.

“Walsall always try to have fluency with their passing and movement. Sean’s teams have always played that way anyway so it will be a natural fit.

“I saw them play Doncaster Rovers and they came alive in the second half and two great moments saw them get ahead and they were then solid holding onto the advantage.

He added: “They are right up there and our games are often relatively tight, so hopefully we can play well enough to edge it on the day.”
