Duggy targets back-to-back wins

Alex defender Adam Dugdale is targeting another three points from this weekend’s trip to Walsall and says that no-one in the dressing rooming is getting too carried away after arguably our best performance of the season against Coventry.

The Liverpool-born defender says it is vital that the club continue to improve and push on from that results against the Sky Blues and achieving back-to-back wins for the first time this season would have us back in touching distance of those above us.

Ahead of the trip to the Banks’s Stadium, the centre-half told Crewe Alex Player: “It was nice to get our second League win and we’re obviously pleased, but we can’t rest on our laurels now and we’ve got to push on. Everyone played their part and fought hard and we thoroughly deserved the win.

“The back three worked well against Coventry. I think we caught them out with that formation which helped in the first half. It’s a work in progress where you need the lads to buy into it, which they are, and if we can continue to keep picking up results then it’s more likely that we’ll stick with the formation.

Duggy added: “I don’t mind what formation the manager wants to use, as long as I play. That is what everyone wants to be doing. It would be nice to keep a clean sheet at Walsall on Saturday but the points are the most important thing. I don’t care if we win 3-2 as long as we pick up the three points.”
