No Enquiries For Any Of Our Players

Boss hoping for a quiet deadline day on Monday

Steve Davis says he does not expect to lose any of his squad before Monday’s transfer deadline but he admits he has been taken a bit by surprise in the past. The Alex boss was left disappointed by the news that his on-loan striker Uche Ikpeaqzu was on his way to Doncaster Rovers just hours after he had committed his immediate to Crewe for the second half of the season.

Things developed very quickly at the beginning of the week and Steve admits that can happen in football.

Ahead of the transfer deadline, Steve told us: “I don’t envisage anything happening to any of our players before Monday’s deadline but you never know. I have said that before and we have lost players at the last minute.

“You never know what to expect. It happened with Uche at the beginning of the week. One minute he was here with us and the next we was off somewhere else. That happened very quickly, so you never know.

“I don’t want to lose anybody else and I am reluctant to let too many more go out on loan. I would let Perry NG go out as part of his development but that is about it at the moment.

“Hopefully things won’t change and we can keep the group together. I’ve not no enquiries and I hope it stays that way.”
