'No Chance' With Pogs

Boss says Mathias Pogba has no chance of being involved with Guinea next month

Mathias Pogba has ‘no chance’ of making an appearance for Guinea next month, according to boss Steve Davis. The club’s leading scorer is undergoing his rehabilitation over in Italy after having surgery on a torn thigh muscle.

The Crewe boss and his medical team are being kept informed with his progress and fully expect the 22-year-old to return to the United Kingdom soon and work on his fitness in readiness for the new season.

During his debut season in the Football League, Pogba scored 16 goals last season and his consistent form played a crucial role in helping the Railwaymen establish themselves in mid-table.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “There is no chance that Pogs will be fit enough to travel with Guinea. He won’t be fit enough to be involved.

“I’m sure he will be back for us for the beginning of the season. He is currently undergoing his rehab in Italy, with the surgeon who conducted the operation. He will be back with us soon, so Rob (Sharp) can check him over.”
