New Year Return For Pogs

New Year Clash Could Suit Mathias Return

Crewe Alexandra hope to have last season’s leading scorer Mathias Pogba back in action for the start of the New Year. The club’s Guinean International has not featured this season after suffering a knee injury in our pre-season game against Manchester United.

Pogba scored 16 goals for the club last season and has been sorely missed as the club have struggled for goals but boss Steve Davis is hopeful that his powerful striker will be back to possibly face Carlisle United on New Year’s Day.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Mathias has to reach a level of fitness because he has missed a lot of football. He will have to get up to that to make sure he is fit enough to play football again. He is running freely and is eager to play but we want him to be right.

“He is getting near that level and we hope to have him for the start of the year. He want him to be right and the Carlisle game could see him back involved because we have a bit of an extended break from the games after that, so it would be good to see him get through and the sort of reaction he could have. “
