Alex boss not happy after a loss to Blackburn Rovers

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager says his players are 'not where he wants them to be at the moment' after Grant Hanley's header sealed a friendly win for Blackburn. Although Crewe did create a lot of decent chances to have got something from the game, the gaffer wants an improvement from this latest pre-season display.

Following the 1-0 defeat, Steve told the club's official web-site: "I wasn't particularly happy with the overall performance. I don't any of them came through as they should have done and I wasn't happy with most of them. They have to sharpen up and sharpen their minds because they are not where I want them to be at the moment. We have worked on a lot of things on the training ground and they have to transfer that onto the pitch. There was no evidence of that and when that happens then it is a concern.

"Hopefully with a couple of weeks to go and a couple of decent fixtures to look forward to, I am sure we will get there. I have a got a lot of players who were not involved tonight and they could come into the team, so the competition is really good and it was nice to give those Scholars some game time against a good opposition like Blackburn Rovers.

"I am not bothered about the result in all fairness, I am bothered about the performance and making sure we are putting those right. There is certainly move to come from us. From all of them."
