Murph Close To New Deal

4 September 2012

New captain close to agreeing new deal with the club.

Luke Murphy has suggested that he is close to signing a new contract with the club. Murphy, 22, was given the honour of captaining the club against Coventry in Saturday’s 1-0 win and now the Alsager-based youngster is set to extend his stay with the Railwaymen.

Murphy has a year remaining on his current deal, but the club are keen to sign up their creative midfielder as soon as possible, so he will join fellow Academy graduates Harry Davis, Kelvin Mellor, AJ Leitch-Smith, Byron Moore and Adam Dugdale in penning a new deal.

Luke told the club’s official web-site: “Hopefully, I will be able to sit down and tie up my contract very soon. We have had a busy start to the season with a few mid-week matches, so it will be nice to sit and have a chat with the manager and get it done.

“My aim is to play for Crewe. I enjoy my football here and it is my aim to continue playing here. I’m sure everything will be sorted soon.”
