Mesca Can Be Game Changer

11 December 2013

Boss hoping wide man will have major impact over festive period

Steve Davis is hoping his loan signing ‘Mesca’ will add some attacking zest in the final third of the pitch, starting with this weekend’s difficult trip to Coventry. Davis acted quickly on deadline day to secure the services of the Fulham wide man as well as signing the QPR forward Tom Hitchcock on emergency loan.

Both young players started in the club’s 1-0 win over Crawley Town and are likely to lead the attack against Coventry this weekend away at Northampton.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “Mesca went home to Portugal for a couple of days last week to see some family, but he has come back and is training well.

“We got him here because he offers something different in the final third of the pitch with his skill and pace. We want him to score and create goals and there were signs of that against Crawley.

He added: “He will need a bit of time to settle in here but I think you can see that he can cause defences some problems in the final third of the pitch. Hopefully, he will have the impact we expect of him over the Christmas period.”
