Youngster targets re-building progamme whilst on the sidelines

Young Crewe Alexandra striker Max Clayton appreciates that it is going to be a tough few months of recovery after suffering that fracture in his ankle against Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup, but he is going to try and use the time off the pitch as a positive.

Clayton will be lucky to feature again this season and that is a huge blow for Crewe Alexandra, as the youngster was recently getting back to his best. His consolation goal at Sheffield United had got him going again and everyone was hoping that the England youth international was going to become a vital player for us in the second half of the season.

Max exclusively told Crewe Alex Player: “It will a tough few months for me but in a weird way I am looking forward to the challenge. I will use the time to build myself up and make sure that when I come back I am raring to go again.

“I think I will come back stronger physically and a better player. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me but I have the right people at home and the right people here. I am treating it as a positive and although it is a dramatic injury, it could a good period for me physically.

“I don’t like watching games and want to be out there with the lads. It will be weird being on the sidelines for a few months but I will be out supporting the team whenever I can and I have the belief that this team will do well and have a better second half of the season.”
