Goalkeeper knows it will be another test for the Railwaymen in tough league

Alan Martin has been pleased with his recent two clean-sheets against tough opposition and he knows that the Alex face another difficult test against an in-form Stevenage side this weekend.

The current number one is hoping Crewe can build on a relatively, solid start to the season and the popular Scot remains convinced that we can compete at this level and do well this season.

Alan told the club’s official web-site: “I am delighted the last two opponents we have had have been very tough so to get cleans sheets was very satisfying. It shows how much work we have been doing as a team in training.

“Everyone is working together. You can tell it is a big step up into this league and the boys have dealt with it well so far.

“It is giving us confidence that we can compete with good sides and established clubs like Coventry. Let's face it we are underdogs this year, but we are proving we should be in this league.

“I have been satisfied with my own performances. I still want to get more into my game. I've still only played seven matches in a year and a half here.

He added: “Stevenage are a tough team to break down but we have time to prepare. We go into every game, and it doesn’t matter if it is home or away, knowing when we go on the pitch it is 11 v 11 and if you play well you get the result.”
