Lowe Deal Not Dead

8 January 2016

Boss says discussions still on-going with Bury striker.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has not ruled out the possibility of re-signing Ryan Lowe on loan. The veteran striker, 37, has returned to his parent Bury after his latest loan spell expired and he is set to be included in the Shakers FA Cup squad that take on Bradford City but the Alex boss is still hoping that the Liverpool-born forward will again become available during the January transfer window.

Lowe made an instant impression to his loan spell back at Gresty Road when scoring a dramatic late winner away at Colchester and he followed that up with the opening goal in a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “When you take a player on loan their situation does depend on what their club want to do and that is the risk you have to take when you take them on loan.

“Ryan has come here, played some games for us and scored a couple of goals. He has done well for us and we have made it known that we would like him to stay. He has returned to Bury and he could be involved for them in the FA Cup this weekend.

“We know that he has enjoyed his spell here with us and the dialogue with him and Bury is on going. That is not necessary dead and we will continue to discuss his situation with them.

“They have a big game in the FA Cup so we will let them get that out of the way first and then pick up with it again next week. If there is a possibility we can do something before the Swindon game then that would be great but we will have to see.”
