Steve Davis says his side can win on the road again at Shrewsbury

Steve Davis says his Crewe players are looking forward to going on the road once again after winning at Gillingham and Crawley in recent weeks. Whilst the Railwaymen have stuttered at home in terms of results, our recent away form has given us real hope of remaining in League One.

In fact, the Alex have lost just two of our last six away games, but in contrast we have not won at Gresty Road since the first day of February when we defeated Sheffield United 3-0. Our recent record has seen us lost the last three at home.

Ahead of our Good Friday fixture at Shrewsbury, the Alex boss told crewealex.net: “We have planned accordingly and are all looking forward to the game on Friday. Our destiny is still in our own hands and all the staff and players are remaining positive that we will get enough points to remain safe.

“The training has been intense and lively and the lads didn’t need much of a pick me up after the Wolves game because we felt that we were in the game until Chuks was sent-off.

“The players are focussed and nothing has changed. We are treating the next two games like any other game. It is a normal game with three points to try and get. Shrewsbury are favourites because they are at home but our away form has been good of late and we go there believing we can do it.

“We have shown that we are capable of going away from home and coming back with a good result and we will roll our sleeves up again, put the work in and certainly won’t be giving up the fight.”
