Boss says players looking forward to getting back playing agian

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that his Crewe Alexandra squad are just looking forward to playing again after a break of ten days. Crewe returned to League One action against Eddie Howe’s promotion hunters Bournemouth and the weather conditions seem to be on side down on the South Coast. It is reportedly more rain than snow.

Ahead of the trip South, Steve told crewealex.net: “We have spoken with Bournemouth and they expect rain rather than snow or frost. The forecast is good, although we will leave a bit earlier to avoid any adverse weather up here.

“It will be nice to play because it has been ten days since the Bradford game and it was Stevenage in the league before that. It will be nice to get going again and play. When you don’t play and others clubs do, you tend to slip down the league a bit and have games in hand, so it will be nice to get back into the games.

“We don’t want any more fixture congestion because February and March are going to be busy enough. We have had to slip in the JPT games against Coventry and our two re-arranged games, so it is going to be busy but one we are looking forward to.

“I am sure the players are raring to go again and you don’t know the benefit of having a break or just playing the games, like a club like Bournemouth have been able to do.

“The players will be looking forward to it and I’m sure there will be a few travelling fans down there as well, because they haven’t had any football either.”
