Lady Luck Wasn't With Us

Boss hoping luck may shine on us a bit more after undeserved defeat to Sky Blues

Steve Davis is hoping some luck shines on his Crewe Alexandra side as we head into the final six matches of the season. The Railwaymen travel to Crawley this weekend, hoping to bounce back from two successive home defeats to Coventry and Crawley Town and Davis is hoping that we get a bit of luck along the way.

The Crewe Alexandra boss was left fuming that the assistant referee on Saturday didn’t spot such a blatant shirt pull on Uche Ikpeazu and then watched in almost disbelief as a shot from Franck Moussa hit the post and landed directly at the feet of Callum Wilson and then Byron Moore surrendered possession so cheaply for Wilson’s winning goal.

Ahead of the trip to West Sussex, the Alex boss remains upbeat: “Everyone is still upbeat. We are positive and will be looking to take our performance against Coventry into Saturday.

“The message to the players and to everyone is to keep their heads up. The players are working hard and I don’t think we could ask for any more from them on Saturday. I thought we were excellent in the second half and didn’t have much luck.

“I watched the Sunderland game last night and it was much the same. They had something like 28 shots, should have a penalty for handball and gave it a real go after they scored but couldn’t find an equaliser that their play arguably deserved.

“Lady luck wasn’t on their side and that seems to happen a bit more when you are down there and fighting. It seems as though things go against you.

The boss added: “We have six games left and if we can play like we did against Coventry in the second half then we will have a chance if we can convert our chances.”
