Jonah Scores Winner For U-21s

13 October 2015

James Jones scores a free-kick in the dying minutes to seal a 3-2 win.

George Cooper fired Crewe back into the lead with 20 minutes left with another fantastic strike from distance but that lead was short lived with Curtis Mann looping a header over the Crewe goalkeeper Kieran Harrison to tie it once again.

The game had been heading towards an extra 30 minutes after an entertaining encounter had gone to 2-2. Callum Ainley had given Crewe an early lead with a splendid lob over Marosi before the experienced Harry Forester evened things up before the half time interval.

The Rovers goalkeeper should really have saved it after seeming to get both gloves to Jonah's 30 yard strike but he let the ball slip through his fingers and it bounced over the line.
Jones hit a free-kick in the dying minutes to send Alex Morris' side through but the Doncaster Rovers keeper Marko Marosi will be disappointed that he failed to keep it out.

Crewe Alexandra midfielder James Jones marked his return to competitive action with the winning goal for the Under-21s against Doncaster Rovers this afternoon in the FA Premier Cup.
