Inman and Guthrie Doubts

Sickness bug affects Alex squad ahead of league leaders visit

Both players have been unable to train since the weekend and have been isolated away from the training ground to avoid the spread of any virus. The likes of Billy Waters, Anthony Grant and Matt Tootle have all suffered with illness in recent weeks and boss Steve Davis aims to protect his squad numbers. Crewe Alexandra’s squad players Jon Guthrie and Brad Inman are rated as major doubts for this weekend’s visit of Bristol City after suffering with a sickness bug.

Steve revealed to the club’s official web-site: “Most of the squad are okay but Brad and Jon have been ill over the last few days. They haven’t been right since the weekend and we have kept them away from the group because we don’t want that to spread.

“Viruses affect everyone differently. It can take a lot of you and both players will be a doubt for the weekend. It takes a bit of time for players to replace the sugar, salt and loss of food in their bodies. Anyone can get ill but it takes a sportsman a bit of time to get back what they have lost.

“We will have to see what they are like when they are well enough to come back in but we are having to plan without them at the moment.”
