Hoping For Attractive Game

4 September 2015

Steve says both sides will get the ball down and play this weekend.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis envisages this weekend’s home game against Swindon Town being a spectacle for the football pursuit. Mark Cooper’s Swindon side base their strategy on ball retention.

The Robins are one of the most attractive sides in League One and often top the possession stats in our division. With a new style of play, Crewe have been in the top three for possession on occasions this season, so Davis is hoping for an open but tactical game at Gresty Road.

Ahead of this weekend’s encounter at the Alexandra Stadium, Steve told us: “Mark won’t change how he does things at Swindon. He likes to play football and I’m sure it will be an open and attractive game.

“Swindon often top the possession stats for our league and I believe we were second behind them last week after the way we played at Wigan. They like to pass the ball and have been doing it well over the last few years, so they should be better than us at playing that way but we have played some attractive football this season.

“It should be a good spectacle for the supporters and it could be tactical with players moving into positions that are not necessary normal.

He added: “We want to win the game and get that first win to give us the confidence to push on.”
