Hopeful Bingham Injury Not Too Serious

31 August 2015

Crewe set to be without midfielder after he suffers hamstring injury at Wigan.

Crewe Alexandra are set to be without midfielder Billy Bingham for a few weeks after the summer signing from Dagenham and Redbridge tweaked his hamstring in the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Bingham, 25, knew instantly that he had aggravated the muscle after chasing the ball down at the DW Stadium. He was replaced by Chris Atkinson in only the 23rd minute.

Crewe Alexandra are hopeful that Bingham has not torn the muscle but he is unlikely to feature for the next couple of weeks as it naturally heals. The injury set-back to Bingham does leave boss Steve Davis a little short when it comes to senior midfield players because James Jones is still a number of weeks off after undergoing surgery on his shoulder in the pre-season.

The Railwaymen are certainly without forwards Marcus Haber and Harry Wilson for the visit of Swindon this weekend following their call-ups for their respective countries. Haber is away with the full Canada squad while the on-loan Wilson is included in the Wales Under-21 squad for the game with Luxemburg on Friday.
