Home Form Has To Turn Around Quickly

5 February 2016

Steve says home results will be vital in our quest for survival.

Crewe boss Steve Davis says our home form has to start to improve if we are going to avoid relegation. The Railwaymen host Rochdale this weekend and will be aiming to record just a third home win of the season following 1-0 wins over Oldham and Sheffield United earlier in the campaign.

The Alex boss has been left perplexed by our home form this season, especially as we were relatively strong at the Alexandra Stadium during the last campaign. Our home from was a key factor in seeing us escape relegation on the final day.

Now Steve Davis is looking for his side to convert their recent good form into a victory in front of the home support.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I am looking for the same level of performance we showed at Millwall last weekend. The players performed to a high standard and I didn’t think we had much luck with the refereeing decisions. I didn’t think either was a penalty and it was disappointing. We were 1-0 up with about half an hour to play and I didn't see them scoring until he gave them a way back into the game.

“You need that rub of the green to go your way sometimes and if we can produce the same level of skill and effort then we can turn those draws into wins. That is what we will be looking to do against Rochdale.

“We want to transfer the way we have been playing away to the home games. Our home form has not been good enough this season and we need to turn that around and quickly.

“We have nine games left at home and winning the majority of them will be a key factor wherever we stay up or not. Being better at home will be vital to the outcome of our season.

He added: “We need to become harder to play against at home like we have been away from home of late.”
