Harry: "Its Been A Long Six Months"

Harry Davis on his long-awaited comeback from his knee injury

Harry Davis is looking to put a long six months behind him by making his long awaited comeback from injury this evening. The central defender is expected to be handed some game time against Ipswich Town’s Under-21s, as he steps up his return from a knee injury.

The club medical and management team will continue to ease the 23-year-old back into the fold following knee surgery. Davis originally injured his knee in training back in March thus ruling him out of the club’s decisive run-in to stay in League One. Davis missed the entire pre-season and was restricted to conditioning work in the club’s gym.

Ahead of tonight’s Development Squad meeting with Ipswich, Harry said: “It’s been a long six months. It’s something I’ve not experienced before, there’ve been ups and downs. I’ve been itching to get back.

“I’ve missed a lot of games, no one likes doing that, but it’s part and parcel of football. I’ve had a bad injury but I think you come back stronger mentally and physically.

“I need to play a few U21 games to get some fitness and then take it from there. If I feel like I’m fit enough them hopefully I can get onto the bench.

Harry added: “Hopefully I get to play against Ipswich, start, and see how long I play. You get a different view of it when you’re sat up in the stand. At the back end of last season I thought we were very good. We were under a lot of pressure but we coped well and got the results we needed. As for this year, we haven’t had a very good start but it is early days and there’s a lot of time to pull things around.”
